Parent Privacy Notice

Last updated: 3 May 2026.

This short notice explains BuddyBug's child-profile approach in plain English for parents and guardians. It should be read alongside the full Privacy Policy.

1. BuddyBug is parent-led

BuddyBug accounts are for parents and guardians in the United States. A parent creates the account, chooses whether to subscribe, creates child profiles, and decides what stories are suitable for their family. Children should use BuddyBug with adult involvement.

If you access BuddyBug from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be processed in the United States and that some features, rights, protections, pricing, taxes, or payment options may vary by location.

2. What child information may be used

BuddyBug may use a child profile name or display name, age band, language, reading preferences, saved stories, reading progress, story feedback, and bedtime context. We use this to make stories and recommendations more relevant and age-aware.

3. What we do not want

  • Do not add a child's full legal name unless you are comfortable doing so.
  • Do not add school names, home addresses, health details, or other sensitive details into profiles or prompts.
  • Do not let children enter payment details or contact support directly.

4. AI-generated stories

BuddyBug may use AI-supported tools to help create or recommend story content. We aim to keep prompts child-safe and proportionate. Parents should still review stories and decide what is right for their child.

5. Your controls

  • Create, edit, or remove child profiles.
  • Update privacy and personalisation preferences.
  • Request account or child profile data exports.
  • Request deletion of account or child profile data, subject to legal and billing record requirements.
  • Cancel Premium if BuddyBug is not right for your family.

6. COPPA and US children's privacy

BuddyBug is parent-directed and treats child profile information in line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"). Parents create accounts, manage child profiles, and control privacy and data requests.

BuddyBug does not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts, provide contact details, or make purchases. We do not sell children's personal information.

7. Safety and support

If you see content that feels unsuitable, unsafe, or inaccurate, please contact support. BuddyBug can review content, improve filters, restrict features, or remove data where appropriate.
